Role Mission
The Special Visual Projects Merchandiser will be responsible for executing the visual directives as defined from the corporate office or the Special Projects Visual Manager for all special projects in North America. This role supports the in-store and showroom animation efforts such as selling events, collection previews, pop ups, product launches, adhoc windows and press events. This covers directly operated stores (DOS), wholesale channels and corporate showrooms to improve client loyalty and increase market share.
Key Accountabilities
• Follow all visual directives when executing store set-ups, adapting and/or substituting in a brand appropriate manner when necessary to make visual merchandising suitable to regional needs;
• Provide PowerPoint recaps from all store visits and completed projects to be shared with worldwide company headquarters in Italy;
• Support the planning and opening set-up for new concept stores and renovated locations across DOS and wholesale;
• Implement and ensure visual displays merchandising integrity leading up to, and during an event or project's duration;
• Ongoing training of store associates in visual merchandising standards;
• Ongoing collaboration with Merchandising, Marketing, Special Events and Retail Operations to understand seasonal strategies;
• Remain aware of the competitive landscape in terms of visual approach to events and projects;
• Partner with District and Store Managers to effectively support current business trends with visual needs as they arise.
Desired Skills and Experience
Key Requirements
• Minimum 3 years' professional experience in Visual Merchandising;
• Project coordination experience preferred;
• Multi store experience preferred but not required;
• Strong attention to detail;

• Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.

Internship: Redbook Magazine Fall 2016 - New York, NY

The fashion department at Redbook magazine is seeking interns to work alongside the Fashion Director and Fashion Assistants for the Fall 2016 semester, (mid-August through December). 


Candidates must have a professional attitude, a strong interest in fashion/style and be able to commit to a minimum of 2-3 full days a week. Interns will receive a first-hand experience to learn about the inner workings of a fashion department within a print magazine. They will learn to navigate a fast-paced environment and have the opportunity to be exposed to multiple facets of a fashion department.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
– Checking in and returning samples
– Coordinating sample pick-ups and returns
– Managing the PR database for the fashion department
– Organizing and maintaining the fashion closet
– Setting up for photo shoot run-throughs
– Packing for and unpacking from photo shoots
– Assisting Fashion Director on photo shoots
– Helping Fashion Assistant with credit requests and handling ongoing market requests as needed
– Assist the Fashion Director and Market Director on market appointments
– Completing any and all other administrative work the team needs

Candidate must be extremely organized and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment. This position requires long hours so candidates must be dedicated and highly motivated. A positive attitude is a MUST. Previous internship or fashion experience highly encouraged.

Overall Job Function: Assists Management team in overseeing floor coverage, driving sales, merchandise presentation, customer service, and operational functions within the store including opening and closing the store according to H&M guidelines
 
Job Responsibility including but not limited to:

Customer Service
  • Maintain the high quality of H&M customer service by providing the best shopping experience for each customer and role modeling the 5 basic demands
Job Knowledge
  • Ensure that all merchandise is properly received and placed on the floor in a timely manner and according to merchandise guidelines
  • Execute merchandising campaigns, promotions, activities and customer rounds as assigned by store management
  • Address any loss prevention and safety issues that may occur while on duty and bring any escalated concerns to management team
  • Ability to suspend an employee with discretion and approval from Store Manager or District Manager if only manager on duty
  • Serve as second interviewer and note taker for staff interviews

  • Assist the management team with the training and developing of Sales Advisors on the operational side of the business by following up on clear goals and providing timely feedback

Minimum Candidate Qualifications
  • High School graduate or equivalent; Associates Degree preferred
  • 1-2 years of retail customer service experience
  • Prior supervisory experience is a plus

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time; bend, stretch, engage in repetitive motions; push, pull and carry items (mannequins, clothing, totes, torsos, etc.) for a short distance

The Michael Kors internship program offers undergraduate and graduate students an opportunity to gain exposure to the inner workings of a global retail corporation. Key Responsibilities:
  • The Visual Operations intern will be responsible for maintaining and updating the VO spreadsheets, which include the Global Watch Vitrine Inventory, Global Visual Calendar, and Global Fragrance Inventory
  • They will also work closely with the Visual Communications team to develop a Global Product Enhancer ordering guide and a Visual intern manual.
  • Partake in the implementation of the monthly global floorset directive
  • Update the calendar, global store listing sheet, organizational chart, and new store opening master address list
  • Assemble new store opening package for every new store opening for Lifestyle stores
  • Help prep the showroom for press events
  • Participate with styleout photo shoots
  • Learn the basics of the Visual Merchandising business
Qualifications:
  • Students MUST be able to receive academic credit for the duration of the internship.  Before you apply, please check with your internship center that you would be eligible to receive academic credit if you were offered an internship.
  • A minimum commitment of 2-3 full days per week is required
  • The internship program’s hours are 9am to 6pm, Monday through Friday
An ideal candidate will:
  • Looking for a student in majoring in Merchandising or Visual Merchandising
  • Proficient in Excel, Adobe Creative Suite- Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign
