While working with our Management Team, our Department Supervisors help oversee customer service and floor coverage, driving sales, merchandise presentation and operational functions within the store, including opening and closing the store. And they do all of this according to H&M guidelines. We’ve found this to be an effective way to continue helping our people grow while making it possible for our customers to have a great shopping experience.

Overall Job Function: Assists Management team in overseeing floor coverage, driving sales, merchandise presentation, customer service, and operational functions within the store including opening and closing the store according to H&M guidelines
 
Job Responsibility including but not limited to:

Customer Service
  • Maintain the high quality of H&M customer service by providing the best shopping experience for each customer and role modeling the 5 basic demands
Job Knowledge
  • Ensure that all merchandise is properly received and placed on the floor in a timely manner and according to merchandise guidelines
  • Execute merchandising campaigns, promotions, activities and customer rounds as assigned by store management
  • Address any loss prevention and safety issues that may occur while on duty and bring any escalated concerns to management team
  • Ability to suspend an employee with discretion and approval from Store Manager or District Manager if only manager on duty
  • Serve as second interviewer and note taker for staff interviews
  • Act as a management witness, on behalf of H&M, in employee discussions as needed
Efficiency
  • Perform all store routines, including the opening and closing of the store; follows all company practices and procedures; work with timekeeping and scheduling system and controls and complete reductions
  • Maximize sales through commercial focus and take action to obtain highest level of profitability for the store
  • Actively use sales information to make business decisions regarding merchandising
  • Approve timesheets on a daily basis in the timekeeping system
  • May be assigned overall store responsibility in absence of Store Manager or Department Manager when opening or closing store
Team Player
  • Assist the management team in the day-to-day supervision of staff by directing and overseeing workflow within the store
  • Assist the management team with the training and developing of Sales Advisors on the operational side of the business by following up on clear goals and providing timely feedback
  • Ensure that all employee issues are immediately brought to the attention of management team

Minimum Candidate Qualifications
  • High School graduate or equivalent; Associates Degree preferred
  • 1-2 years of retail customer service experience
  • Prior supervisory experience is a plus
  • Open availability based on business need
  • Ability to lift in excess of 20 pounds
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time; bend, stretch, engage in repetitive motions; push, pull and carry items (mannequins, clothing, totes, torsos, etc.) for a short distance
  • Ability to climb a ladder and use a stepstool

  • Answer phones courteously and promptly
Job Knowledge
  • Actively work with garments, including processing, stocking, replenishing, folding, hanging, displaying and merchandising per H&M guidelines, to maximize selling opportunities
  • Ring on the register, report and handle all required transactions, issue receipts and pack merchandise
  • Unload delivery truck, receive, open and unpack merchandise and label merchandise with security tags
Efficiency
  • Execute reductions, price changes, transfers and cash register routines
  • Utilize established H&M policies and procedures to assist in loss prevention and safety for the store and partner with store management as needed
Team Player
  • Work effectively with team members to ensure the selling floor, cash point, fitting rooms and stockroom are clean and well maintained per H&M’s store standards
  • Adhere to H&M values and internal standards policies and procedures contained in the H&M Employee Handbook

If you’re starting your senior year of college/university seeking work experience in the real world, the Crate and Barrel Store Internship program is a fun way to begin your career in retail.  Throughout your internship, you’ll be immersed in the hands-on basics of sales, as well as, gain leadership and teamwork experience in customer service, visual merchandising, and  operations. 
And your internship can be more than a great paid opportunity and a fabulous discount. Because we like to promote from within, internships have historically been a great “in” to a Crate and Barrel career.
The program is paid, full-time and runs for 10 weeks.

INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION:
  • Maximize company sales growth and profitability through developing strong experiences in all business areas, including sales,store operations, and merchandising with an emphasis on selling , customer service and teamwork.
  • Support store sales and service goals as communicated by the store management team.
  • Lead by example and support store management in holding self and others accountable for store profitability.
  • Develop and demonstrate company standards in selling, customer service, visual merchandising and teamwork.
  • Develop, share and apply product expertise.
  • Master a complete understanding of and comply with all store processes.
  • Assist the sales manager or sales team lead with ensuring product and displays on sales floor are stocked appropriately and available for customer to purchase.
  • Work closely with sales/stock associates, store designer or visual merchant and management team to maintain the sales area, including merchandise and physical space.
  • Engage in, maintain and support store safety standards and training.
  • Possess a complete understanding of applicable company systems, policies and procedures.
  • Actively engage customers and remain attentive to customer needs.
  • Model and reinforce company customer service standards.
  • Support and model excellent service by exhibiting a positive attitude and enthusiasm toward the job and the company to both internal and external customers in all forms of communication.
  • Gain full understanding of various teams (management, visuals, operations, housewares/furniture sales and customer service) through weekly rotations.
  • Actively participate in store meetings, inventory and training sessions.
  • Promote a strong sense of teamwork by working together effectively, respectfully and efficiently with all associates.
  • Develop and create a business plan as a final project to be scheduled for a presentation.

Required Skills
  • Must be entering Senior year of College or University
