Belk Internship Program Overview:
Belk Interns (BIP’s) are the rock stars of their field.  From Retail Management and Merchandising to Corporate roles such as Accounting, Finance, Information Technology, E-Commerce, Human Resources, Creative and Communications, Belk is committed to investing in college students to spend the summer interning with us.  The Belk Internship program is a comprehensive development program which exposes you to executive-level subject matter experts while focusing on hands-on work experience.

Merchandising Opportunities:
The Merchandising Internship program is an intensive 10 week development program created to provide hands on training in the areas of Buying, Planning, Product Development or E-Commerce.  As an intern, you will participate in a variety of instructor led workshops, project assignments and business overviews to prepare you for an exciting career in Merchandising.

·         Analyze fashion and business trends while comparing location sales to highlight inventory successes and opportunities
·         Shop retail market to identify assortment, incoming trends and pricing opportunities based on competitive landscape
·         Prepare materials for merchant line review.  Assist in recapping, finalizing, and communicating style placement to cross functional development teams, agents and vendors
·         Providing business support through report generation and analysis of business results
·         Support and Participate in assortment planning, seasonal financial planning and store planning

Qualifications:
• Current undergraduate student with a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale; preferred 3.2 GPA
• Graduation Date between December 2016 and June 2017
• Demonstrated leadership and communication skills
• Strong work ethic, attention to detail and customer centric mentality
• Technically competent with an emphasis in MS Office
