Internship Program

Skills
The Williams-Sonoma, Inc. internship program provides 3rd year undergraduate students with the opportunity to demonstrate skills in business acumen, retail management, marketing, and design. In order to provide you with a truly comprehensive view of our company, we are offering an internship program to experience both the retail and corporate sides of our business. The internships available at corporate are in the following departments:
  • Merchandising
  • Inventory Management
  • e-Commerce
  • Retail Operations
  • Product Development & Visual
  • Finance
  • Internet Creative
  • Marketing
  • Human Resources
  • Retail Portion

    For one (1) week of your internship, we will place you in one of our Pottery Barn, Pottery Barn Kids, or Williams-Sonoma retail stores in the Bay Area. While in the stores, you will work with District and General Managers to learn how a retail store runs and operates, allowing you the opportunity to learn sales, customer service, payroll, live inventory, and how to manage a team. You will also have the chance to spend time directly with the customers, seeing firsthand the impact the retail stores have on the overall success of the business. Learning our retail business provides a strong foundation for the corporate portion of the internship.

    Corporate Portion

    For the remaining nine (9) weeks of your internship you will be working at our Williams-Sonoma, Inc. Corporate Headquarters in San Francisco. You will be placed in and matched with a department based on your interviews, interests, and skill set. These departments are Merchandising, Inventory Management, Sourcing, E-Commerce, Retail Operations, Creative Services, IT and Marketing. During these weeks, you will have the opportunity to attend business critical meetings, assist on projects, and gain experience in cross-functional partnerships.

    In addition to your daily tasks, you will participate in a group project. The group project will include other cross-functional interns and will require each intern to contribute their department knowledge and insights to deliver an overall business plan. You will also partake in weekly sessions with the other interns, participating in personal and professional trainings as well as attending meetings with the executive leaders of the company and brands.

    Duration

    The nine week program begins on Monday, June 13th and ends on Friday, August 19th.

    Requirements And Qualifications
  • Junior in an accredited degree program
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and/or MAC OS (depending on the department)

    Position Summary
    Zazzle is looking for a rock star Photo Studio Intern for this summer. The individual will work in close collaboration with Photographer and Stylist on a variety of projects. You’ll be part of a small Creative team where you’ll get to wear multiple hats in a fun, hip start-up environment.

    Essential Duties And Responsibilities
    • Track and pull products, props, and studio equipment.
    • Assist in photo shoots and tear down of sets.
    • Process and light retouch product and editorial shoots.
    • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of our in-house photo studio.
    • Learn and grow skills through hands-on experience.
    Minimum Requirements
    • Majoring in Photography, Design, Styling/Visual Merchandising, or a related field.
    • Available to work during normal business hours during the summer.
    • Experience with Capture One, Photoshop, and Microsoft software.
    • The ideal candidate is detail oriented and highly organized with the ability to manage time and deadlines.
    • Related work experience in photography, video, design, advertising, or marketing is a plus.
    • Portfolio with some practical studio experience.

    INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION:

    Analysis of fragrance and prestige skincare in-store presentation as it relates to brands, flow, space allocation etc at ULTA vs Competition (Sephora, Macy’s, SIJCP, TBA)
                 Approximate total space devoted to fragrance and skincare  brands.
    How is competitive space organized (ABC, brand, scent, lifestyle) in addition to inventory presentation and depth?
    Provide “guest” view on Ulta fragrance and Prestige Skincare vs. the competition in both legacy and transformation stores to identify strengths and opportunities from the perspective of someone not so close to the category and the brand politics. 

     
     

    • Currently pursuing Bachelor’s degree and entering Junior or Senior year.  Would not exclude recent graduates from 2016.
    • Must be able to provide proof of class registration or completion of degree.
    • Strong academic record.
    • Previous work experience and involvement with on-campus organizations or activities.
    • Strong communication, interpersonal, and time management skills.
    • Desire to work in a fast paced environment and interact with management level personnel.
    • Ability to work in our Bolingbrook office during core business hours of 8:00 A.M. to 5:30 P.M. 
    • Ability to commit during the months of June – August 2016.
