Annual Salary: £18,000 per annum pro rata
ROLE DESCRIPTION
You will be responsible for assisting the team with the efficient creation and implementation of merchandising initiatives for new product launches and promotional activities across UK retailers. You will work closely with the marketing team, and liaise with external suppliers and retailers. It is a creatively demanding role and offers great exposure to a fast paced environment. You will also be responsible for keeping the team informed on competitor activity, launches and in-store trends through reports and presentations.
PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Supporting the Visual Merchandising team with preparing and planning for new launches and promotions
  • Partnering with all the relevant retailers to ensure visual merchandising is correctly implemented
  • Taking on your own projects and building up an in-depth expertise of merchandising
  • Working closely with the Marketing team to design, manage and develop Point of Sales and launch guidelines whilst further coordinating printing and distribution
  • Updating developing and designing planogrames to guide stores on how to present their product
  • Liaising with marketing and sales in order to confirm direction and stock levels
  • Regular in-store visits to track competitor activity and launches across retailers, gathering photos, details on materials and structures to create a monthly report for presentation to the Marketing Team and General Manager
  • Attending trade shows and supplier fairs on behalf of the team
JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Have strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Be a good all round performer with an emphasis on creativity and numerical skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Able to work autonomously
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • You must be eligible to work in the UK
  • You must be completing a placement as part of your degree
  • You must be on track to attaining a 2:1 for your degree

INTERNSHIP PROGRAM STRUCTURE:
Our internship program is designed to provide real-world experience that is directly related to your academic discipline and career goals and provide you a better understanding of career options for your degree.  Components of the program include:
  • Hands-on experience working as a member of a specific department and team.
  • Assigned projects to accelerate learning of key functions/process.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF INTERNSHIP:  Prestige Skincare and Fragrance Merchandising
  • Build an experience that provides intern an experience of how merchants work with cross functional teams and brand partners to drive a winning culture: guest-centric, values-based, high performance.
  • Brand Collaboration
Attend brand meetings
Assist in pre meeting prep work and weekly vendor calls
Assist in Vendor Funding reconciliation
Assist with Q2/Spring Season Reconcilliation including testers, damages, and visual reimbursement collection
  • Marketing Collaboration
Assist in Mailer and Tab planning process
Attend Ad Turnover participation
Assist with proofing stages
  • Bringing the Guest Experience to Life in Stores
Assist with Promo Planner process
Assist with Planogram process including store set participation at local door
Observe discussions around elevating the guest skincare service experience
  • Bringing the Guest Experience to Life on ULTA.com
Onboarding with .com Merchant
  • 360 Degree Launches for Fall 2016
CRM / Social Media onboarding
  • Prospective Brand Reviews
Assist with coordination of round table reviews
  • Competitive Review /Capstone Presentation final week of internship
Analysis of fragrance and prestige skincare in-store presentation as it relates to brands, flow, space allocation etc at ULTA vs Competition (Sephora, Macy’s, SIJCP, TBA)
             Approximate total space devoted to fragrance and skincare  brands.
How is competitive space organized (ABC, brand, scent, lifestyle) in addition to inventory presentation and depth?
Provide “guest” view on Ulta fragrance and Prestige Skincare vs. the competition in both legacy and transformation stores to identify strengths and opportunities from the perspective of someone not so close to the category and the brand politics. 

 
 

  • Currently pursuing Bachelor’s degree and entering Junior or Senior year.  Would not exclude recent graduates from 2016.
  • Must be able to provide proof of class registration or completion of degree.
  • Strong academic record.
  • Previous work experience and involvement with on-campus organizations or activities.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and time management skills.
  • Desire to work in a fast paced environment and interact with management level personnel.
  • Ability to work in our Bolingbrook office during core business hours of 8:00 A.M. to 5:30 P.M. 
  • Ability to commit during the months of June – August 2016.
