Internship: Phoenix Art Museum - Phoenix, AZ


The internship program at Phoenix Art Museum provides current undergraduates, graduate students and recent graduates, with opportunities to work on projects directed by Museum staff. Interns are introduced to the broad spectrum of museum work and to Museum staff, departments, programs and operations. Internships are offered in three sessions per year, Spring, Summer and Fall. Summer interns generally work 20 hours per week; schedules may vary slightly to accommodate departmental needs. The summer internship session begins in early June and lasts for eight weeks, for a total of at least 160 work hours. Fall/Spring semester and special-project interns' schedules vary according to the internship position and to accommodate class schedules, but total at least 120 work hours.
Unless otherwise noted ALL internships at Phoenix Art Museum are performed on a volunteer basis. Museum staff members aid in the intern’s pursuit of academic credit, if applicable. All interns receive a one-year membership at Phoenix Art Museum.

Before you get started, you will need the following materials for your application, all formatted as PDFs:
  • a cover letter stating why you are qualified for the internship you're applying for (500 words max)
  • a current resume
  • 2 letters of recommendation

NAU Social Media

The Lumberjack community is a large online community. Students, faculty, alumni, colleges and organizations are all voices for Northern Arizona University. Through the strategic use of social media, we can reinforce who we are and what we are all about.

The Social Media & Digital Communications Internship


NAU’s Office of Public Affairs is responsible for creating awareness and affinity on behalf of the university through the use of storytelling on the web and in social media. Our team of interns play an important role and bring an authentic voice and spirit to NAU’s social media.

Hours per week: The social media and digital communications intern will work 10 hours per week during the semester and receive three credit hours. The intern must work with their academic adviser to complete requirements of their major and course plan.  

  Roles and Responsibilities:
             Support the NAU Social staff in accomplishing daily tasks and long-term goals
             Develop a variety of content for NAU’s social media accounts (Content may include posts, pictures, video, graphics, animations, geofilters, gifs, videos, blogs, etc.)
             Suggest social media postings from student events/experience
             Pitch new and creative ideas

             Contribute to day-to-day candid coverage of campus activities as well as special events, promotions and campaigns
             Capture meaningful moments during events and activities for live social media coverage
             Monitor trends in social media applications, tools and strategies
             Take on additional platforms and projects based on your interests
             Act as an ambassador for NAU Social
             Help to organize and maintain a library of photos and video for social media use
             Perform other duties, as assigned

Desired Skills: All applicants must be creative self-starters who are passionate about NAU. If you can write concise copy, handle several projects at once and know what gets shared, double-tapped and retweeted, apply to join our NAU Social team and share why Lumberjack life is the best life.

Qualifications: Applicants must be in good standing and have completed two semesters at NAU. Prior experience with social media engagement on behalf of an organization or brand is preferred. Photography, video and design skills are a plus. Open to all majors. Preferred areas of study: Communication, Digital Media, Marketing, Photography and Public Relations.

The Museum has 10 different internships available for the summer and for the first time, BOTH Education internships will offer a financial stipend. Openings range from Public Relations, Marketing, Digital Asset Management, Curatorial, and Library assistance. All majors welcome to apply!
