The School of Communication
The School of Communication emphasizes being at the forefront of contemporary communication studies and provides an inclusive environment for students to learn in a state-of-the-art building. The School of Communication emphasizes a multi-media approach to communication including radio, graphic design, advertising, photography, visual merchandising, human interaction, virtual reality, public relations, journalism. Students learn industry-specific skills, broadly-applicable theories for successful human relationships, and craft resumes and portfolios while turning their creative passions into lucrative careers.

Social Media Internship
The School of Communication is seeking a motivated, hard-working, creative student to act as an intern for Fall 2020. This individual will help develop and maintain integrated, strategic, coordinated, audience-centric, and collaborative communication between the school and its audiences—current and prospective students, parents, alumni, NAU colleagues, and potential donors. The student will help develop brand communication strategy across platforms, project plans, deliverables, and analyze metrics. 

Hours per week
To fulfill internship requirements, student intern is expected to dedicate 10 hours per week for 14 weeks to the position

Responsibilities
• Assist in developing content (text, photo, video) for various social media platforms
• Collaborate with the various degree programs across the school to collect content
• Identify class work, notable alumni, staff/faculty accomplishments for content
• Develop paid social media options
• Assist in developing new processes for reporting and tracking performance data
• Begin and maintain a database for alumni and donors
• Review website content and work toward updating text/images
• Assist in documenting school events and notable news
• Maintain a high standard of ethical communication and moderate audience comments 
• Perform other duties as assigned



Applicants must be self-starters who are willing and able to learn and execute quickly. If you can work autonomously, write and edit copy, and potentially handle multiple projects at once with varying levels of guidance, apply to join the School of Communication social media team.

Qualifications
• Good academic standing
• 3.0 GPA or better
• Sophomore, Junior, or Senior level student
• Major within the School of Communication

Desired Qualifications
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Experience with various social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter)
• Working knowledge of platform-specific format and engagement metrics 
• Experience working with Facebook Business Manager
• Experience working with Hootsuite
• Experience working at a high level of accuracy and detail
• Open to coaching and feedback
• Flexible and able to adapt to change
• Ability to work with various personalities
• Ability to work as part of a team
