Job Overview: 

Macy’s Merchant Omni Buying/Planning teams are directly responsible for the merchandise assortment and strategy in all Macy’s stores and e-commerce websites. A Macy’s Merchant Omni Buying/Planning Internship allows you to explore the dynamics of managing a multi-million dollar business within a corporate retail setting. As a Merchant Omni Buying/Planning intern, you’ll benefit from a structured 8-week program designed to develop your business acumen and leadership skills through a combination of classroom learning, workshops, and real-world assignments.

Essential Functions:
  • Assist with development of merchandise assortment offered in stores and on the macys.com website.
  • Perform analytically complex assignments.
  • Build constructive and collaborative relationships with colleagues and vendors.   
  • Assist with procurement, product development, vendor partnerships, assortment planning, financial analysis, localization planning, advertising, allocation, and replenishment.  
  • Perform data analysis and make recommendations impacting sales and profitability.
  • Regular, dependable attendance & punctuality.
Qualifications:
Education/Experience:      
  • Rising senior at an accredited university. A minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA is preferred. All majors will be considered for this opportunity.
Communication Skills: 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to read, write, and interpret instructional documents such as reports and procedure manuals.
Mathematical Skills: 
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to analyze data and draw conclusions. Above average quantitative skills preferred.
Reasoning Ability:
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Physical Demands:
  • This position involves extended periods of sitting and the extensive use of computer and the office equipment. May involve stooping, kneeling, or crouching. Involves close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
Other skills: 
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, assertiveness, and intellectual curiosity.
Work Hours: 
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule based on department and store/company needs.

Macy's Credit and Customer Services 2016 Summer Internship Program - Tempe, AZ


Overview:
