Forest Highlands Golf Club is looking for 2-3 Merchandise Assistants to work in their 2 golf shops. Their golf season is April 26-November 3 and they like to hire local students.

Job Overview:
Provides excellence in customer service to Forest Highlands Golf Club Members and Guests. Attempts to anticipate and fulfill customer needs in a variety of responsibilities as assigned which includes visual merchandising, stockroom management, inventory management and loyalty program management. Maintains friendly and professional appearance, ensures overall appearance meets/exceeds department dress code guidelines.

GENERAL
DUTIES
· Enforce
club rules and regulations as set forth by the Board of Directors
· Provide
Positively Outrageous Service to all members and guests
·
Responsible for managing, opening,
closing, and securing golf shop and storage areas using established procedures.
Professionally acknowledge and communicate information to all members and guests
using name recognition
· Answer
telephones using professional speak to schedule future starting times, schedule
golf instruction, tournament signup/cancellation
· Responsible
for revenue collection that includes tee sheet management, selling of all
apparel and hard goods, tournament and instruction charges
· Become
fully knowledgeable in all merchandise products, key selling features and
conduct a product knowledge seminar at a golf staff meeting
· Stay
current with company, department, golf shop information by checking information
resources such as memo’s, emails, member email blasts, newsletters, paycheck
announcements
· Maintain
a close working relationship with the other golf staff members and also other
departments
· Ensure
each day the golf shop is cleaned, swept, dusted that includes counters and
equipment, windows, floor, fixtures, displays, fitting rooms
· Responsible
for all merchandise presentation that includes displaying current and new
lines, all apparel is folded, sized, zoned, tags hidden
· Assist
members using the GHIN Handicap system when needed
·
Loyalty Program
o
Responsible for monthly report and gift
certificate administration
o
Oversee gift certificate redemption
spreadsheet
o
Assist DOG, HP, and Merchandiser in
Loyalty Program Sale
· Ensure
each day the golf shop is cleaned, swept, dusted that includes counters and
equipment, windows, floor, fixtures, displays, fitting rooms
· Responsible
for all merchandise presentation that includes displaying current and new lines;
all apparel is folded, sized, zoned, tags hidden.
· Assist
in periodic and monthly physical inventory that includes chasing shrink
· Assist
with incoming and outgoing merchandise product
· Assist
in maintaining the overall cleanliness and organization of the stockroom
· Conduct
a product knowledge seminar at a golf staff meeting
· Assist
with any special events, sales and promotions
· Assist
with sidewalk sales and vendor shows
Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:
- High School Diploma or
equivalent (GED).
- Valid Driver License with clean
Motor Vehicle Record.
- Basic knowledge of golf courses
and country club operations.
- Strong interpersonal,
communication and customer service skills.
- Must be self-motivated with a
positive and professional attitude.
- Organized, able to work in a
busy environment where the priorities are changing.
- Ability to perform a wide
variety of tasks during busy times while working flexible hours with an
enthusiastic personality.
- Must be reliable.
Preferred Requirements:
- 1 to 3 years of related
experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and
experience
- Ability to operate golf carts
- Moderate knowledge of and
understanding of typical golf course and country club procedures
- Ability to develop and maintain
awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions; skilled in
following safety practices and recognizing hazards.
- CPR/First Aid and AED certified
Language Skills:
Ability to read and
interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance
instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability
to communicate effectively and professionally with all members and guests,
co-worker and supervisors, vendors/suppliers, the general public and other
employees of the company.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions
furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in
standardized situations.
Physical Demands and
Work Environment:

Position is at a busy golf club in a private residential
community.
·
Flexibility in schedule.
·
Ability to lift up to 25lbs regularly; up to 50lbs occasionally
and to lift overhead and push/pull.
·
Must be able to frequently walk, sit, stand, bend, use hands to
finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear, stoop kneel, crouch, adjust vision
accordingly (close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception)
·
Exposed to outside weather conditions including low temperatures.
·
Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and a quiet work
environment.
·
Continuous ability to talk and hear.
·
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close
vision.
