High volume Flagstaff, AZ outdoor retail store is currently
looking for a full-time clothing buyer. This role will focus highly on
assortment planning, product selection and promotion, vendor negotiation, gross
margin, inventory control, and creating store merchandising directives. We are
looking for highly motivated individual who has a passion for the industry and
has the desire to increase sales. Appropriate candidate is looking for a
long-term role.
The candidate selected for this position must be
able to face the demands of a high volume, fast-paced retail setting within a
growing company. It is essential that, while working in various programs, the
candidate selected have the ability to focus in a high traffic area while
working on multiple tasks. Effectively communicating in both written and verbal
form will be essential in this position. Being detail oriented while having a
strong organizational background will ensure success in prioritizing and
meeting deadlines. Experience with MS Office with an emphasis on Excel and Word
is preferred. A considerate, pleasant demeanor along with experience
successfully working with various personalities is crucial in this position.
Responsibilities
including but not limited to-
-Daily/weekly communication with planning team
on all components of managing the business to achieve financial goals, from
sales projections, markdown scenarios, receipt flow, etc.
-Prepare and analyze pre-market financial and
style recaps to identify and develop assortment strategies based on current
trends and/or opportunities by classification.
-Review/develop product lines and assortments to
achieve budgeted sales and gross margin -Negotiate firmly while building strong
vendor relationships
-Work with team to improve performance and achieve
professional and business goals
-Seek and develop new categories, trends, and
exclusives
-Negotiate with vendors purchase terms: Cost,
payment terms, co-op money, returns/exchanges, freight/terms of delivery,
Opportunity buys, etc.
-Receiving and assisting with merchandising
layouts
-Interacting with customers on the sales floor
when needed and operating a register during high traffic times.
-Review sales, markdowns, transfers, and receipt
flow with planning team to achieve BOM inventory plans, sell thru goals, and to
maintain acceptable stock to sales ratios.
Competencies preferred-
-This position will be Monday - Friday, 8AM -
5PM with additional hours as necessary. Along with 5+ travel shows per year.
-Minimum of 2 - 3 years retail experience with
progressive responsibilities
-Entrepreneurial thinker; Strong mathematics
skills (Basic Retail Math); highly analytical .
-Must have strong computer skills, MS Office
(Word, Excel, Outlook)
-Demonstrate leadership and problem-solving
skills
-Manage multiple projects and deadlines
efficiently
-Work independently with little supervision
-Strong communication skills, both verbal &
written
-Strong organizational and time management
skills, with the ability to prioritize
-Procurement background a plus, willing to train
the right candidate
-Outdoor(Hiking, Camping, Climbing, Running,
Skiing) experience a plus, however not required -Fashion forward awareness
